My two main focal niches, are plaster restoration for heritage homes, and decorative plaster scapes for heritage and new homes which require vapour permeability.
I ensure to uphold a high level of attention to detail through each step of the many processes involved. My competencies are lime putty based, and cement included mediums ranging from mortars to renders and plasters. I produce quality repairs and new works with integrity to longevity by my 20 years experience.
I work with mentorship from Brian Maxwell (lime putty heritage solid plasterer of Brisbane), and Ray Whiltshire (lime putty heritage solid plasterer of Melbourne).
Regularly I work with my customers to create their own unique plaster-scape desires come into, or as close to reality as possible. Three main elements that have me able to facilitate this are, working through plaster scape design process, making 90% of my own materials in my Warrandyte based workshop, and my experience in working with many different rendering and plastering mediums and techniques.
McKenzie Solid Plastering is tended to domestic home owners in Melbourne's north eastern suburbs and rural areas, who are looking for high quality craftsmanship and personalised service. I also contract to commercial heritage building companies and other solid plasters who need help with longer term projects.
I usually need to book well in advance, and my booking system is simply “next in line”. Once a project’s booking is confirmed, that booking holds its place until I can begin works. I generally work the one project at a time, until I and my customers feel satisfied that their project (or stage of the project) is properly completed before moving on. As you can imagine the detailed nature of heritage restoration and such customised decorative service has my time lines fluctuate, so please be prepared that if you contract my services to be flexible on start and finish dates. I do not tend projects with rigid time constraints.
